Foreclosure mitigation in Georgia – Counseling & legal services

Foreclosure mitigation assistance in Georgia is managed by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The Georgia Legal Services Program has entered into a partnership with DCA to provide access to legal services.  DCA’s housing counselors will, after providing extensive counseling,  connect appropriate foreclosure clients to the Georgia Legal Services Program for assistance in problems beyond the counselor-level capacity.  Georgians facing foreclosure can contact a housing counselor who will then make a referral to a local office of the Georgia Legal Services Program.

Georgia homeowners may access an up-to-date listing of foreclosure counselors and contact information for DCA’s Housing Counseling partners at Homeowners may also contact HUD’s Referral Line for a listing of housing counselors in their local area at 800-569-4827 (or TDD at 800-877-8339).

I am a lawyer licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia, and not in any other jurisdiction. Nothing posted on this blog should be considered legal advice. I do not recommend attorneys or law firms. If I reference an attorney or a law firm in this blog, I do so to tell a story, make a point, or urge you to think about an issue presented by that attorney or law firm.
